    3. Open House at UC Berkeley for Department of City and Regional Planning (DCRP) Graduate Program Applicants -- Monday, Oct. 12, 2009. RSVP required by Oct. 8 (link).
    4. Professors LeGates, Das, and Pamuk participated at the annual conference of planning academics in Crystal City, Virginia (October 1-4, 2009).
    5. Due to State Budget Closure Days, the Department of Urban Studies and Planning office (HSS 263) will be closed on Friday, Oct. 23 and Monday, Oct. 26. See additional information. Please plan accordingly

    7. Fall 2009 Advising List
    8. Senior Seminar (USP 680) is being offered in Fall 2009 for the first time to help Urban Studies majors planning to graduate at the end of the fall semester and those who do not wish to leave USP 680 for Spring 2010. A great line up of projects are being offered in partnership with Bay Area LISC, including projects from Chinatown CDC Planning Department, Excelsior Action Group, Visitacion Valley Business Opportunities for Merchants, and BayView Business Resource Center. Students who have completed the prerequisites (400, 480 or 658, 492, 493, 603/604) are invited to attend the first meeting of class with Professor Pamuk on Tuesday, Aug. 25 4-7pm HH 201.
    9. USP 401: Seminar in Urban Studies and Planning -- GWAR is open for Urban Studies majors and minors only. This course satisfies university's new GWAR requirement.

    13. BSS Transfer Student Orientation Day is Monday, July 6, 2009. New Urban Studies and Planning students are invited to attend a departmental orientation meeting at HSS 302 (2-3pm).
    14. DUSP student Nathan Rogers wins the 2009 California Planning Foundation Northern Section Award ($1,000). The award includes a one-year American Planning Association student membership.
    15. DUSP students Jana Boring (junior) and Ryan Thayer (senior) win 2009-2010 Merritt Community Capital Scholarships in Urban Studies and Planning ($5,500 each).
