A NOTE TO VISITORS TO HISTORY 427 ONLINE

This course represents an experiment in teaching with the resources offered by the Internet. This is not an online course in the sense that students attend solely via computer. This class meets regularly, twice a week. The links are designed to be used in the class to expose students to a variety of primary sources--documents, advertisements, radio programs, movies, speeches and photographs--that will introduce students to American experiences from 1916-1945 and, most importantly, will stimulate class discussion. Students will also be able to consult these materials from campus computer labs and at home. Be forewarned, however, that since these links contain photo, movie and sound elements, they work best with a high-speed connection. Those with slower connections, must have patience.

I have relied heavily on resources that are already available on the Internet and I am deeply indebted to the individuals and institutions that have made these materials available. I have tried to acknowledge the source of these materials wherever possible. If I have failed to do so, or I have done so improperly, please let me know and I will be glad to correct any errors.

As this remains an experiment, I welcome any and all comments as well as suggestions for links that might further enhance this site as a teaching tool. Please send your comments and suggestions to me at tygiel@sfsu.edu.
