The Social Organizational Research lab focuses on intraorganizational and interorganizational relationships. There are a number of ongoing research projects in the lab, which employ various research methodologies.
The Social Organizational research lab offers both volunteer and course credit opportunities. We strive to create an engaging, supportive and fun environment for students. We support each other in our personal, education and career goals by creating and nurturing a sense of community.
Current Research Projects:
• Survey Artifacts Project. This project addresses research questions such as: Why do survey respondents choose the neutral option? How can we control for response error? Do radio-dial versus dropdown menu response options elicit different responses? How do positively versus negatively phrased questions affect responses?
• Cheating Project: This project looks at student perceptions of cheating. How do students define cheating? Do their perceptions of procedural and retributive justice depend on their definitions of cheating? Are personality traits correlated with cheating behavior?
• Risk Tolerance Project: This project investigates who is likely to take risks (i.e. gambling, extreme sports, risky driving behavior). What personality and situational factors might be involved?
• Workforce Trends Project: Research on this project is conducted jointly with the Industrial/Organizational Psychology Lab at SFSU. The project is designed to investigate attitudes among the Bay Area workforce.
