Psychology Major Declaration

The time between October 1, 2008 and November 30, 2008 is time for open enrollment into the Psychology Major. There are a couple criteria students will have to meet to declare the major.

  1. A student must have a GPA of 2.0 or above, and

  2. A student must have earned a C or better in General Psychology (PSY 200).

Please be sure to turn in the Change of Major/Minor form attached with a copy of your unofficial transcript to the department office (EP 301) no later than November 30, 2008.

New Advising Tutorial

It is imperative that students receive advising to make sure they are on track with their academic goals. 5 key points in a student's academic career when they should seek advising:

  1. When the student enters the university, either as a first-year or transfer student.

  2. When the student enters the major, minor or program.

  3. If and when the student experiences academic difficulty, including probation and possibly disqualification.

  4. When the student moves into upper division standing and closer to graduation.

  5. As the student prepares to graduate and move beyond his or her studies at San Francisco State University.

A great new resource for advising has been created for students to access before seeking out a department advisor. The short tutorial provides a wealth of information about the major and addresses many frequently asked student questions.
