ADVICE

Taking the LSAT

The Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) helps law schools evaluate candidates for the admissions process. Doing well on the LSAT increases an applicants potential of being admitted to the school of their choice.

It is important for applicants to prepare a course of study for the LSAT well in advance of the testing day. Keeping to a strict schedule has helped many students receive high scores.

Below, we have collected LSAT related resources and information to help you get started.

WHAT IS THE LSDAS

Law School Data Assembly Service
www.lsac.org

"Almost all ABA-approved law schools and several non-ABA-approved schools require that their applicants register for the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS).
The LSDAS prepares and provides a report for each law school to which you apply. The report contains information that is important in the law school admission process. Your report will include:
* An undergraduate academic summary
* Copies of all undergraduate, graduate, and law school transcripts
* LSAT scores and writing sample copies
* Copies of Letters of Recommendation if processed by LSAC" - LSAC.org

HOW SHOULD I STUDY

Self Study
Almost all LSAT takers could fall into this category. Students prepare for the LSAT by studying books, tutorials, practice exams etc.

Training Courses
Many students take LSAT preparation or training courses. Popular courses such as Princeton Review or Kaplan provide students with in class training and resources to help them prepare.

Workshops or Group Study
LSAT workshops are given throughout the year at different locations in the Bay Area. SFSU has developed student workshops for the LSAT during the academic year. Please contact a peer advisor to join a workshop (Previous workshops usually were held once a week in HSS 268).

Timed Practice Exams
No matter what style of preparation you prefer, almost all students take timed practice exams before test day.

Do what works for you
Students know their strengths and weaknesses for test preparation. We suggest you find a method that works best for you and stick to it. The more you prepare, the more confident you will be on test day.
