Chapter 11 – Multiple media and the theory and practice of
creating data graphics

Chapter 11 describes theories of how to communicate information. It draws heavily on the theoretical work of Edward Tufte, Jacques Bertin, William Cleveland, and Earl Bossard about how human beings perceive visually transmitted information and how to effectively communicate spatial information. It describes operational steps to create good data graphics.
