Class Requirements

Class participation (10% of grade)  Students are expected to attend all classes, be on time for class and stay for the entire length of class unless cleared with the professor in advance due to professional or other responsibilities elsewhere. You should be prepared to discuss all of the assigned reading.  Assignments are expected to be completed and to be turned in on time.

Style sheets for the following assignments will be posted on this site early in the semester.

Team write up (10% of grade): We will discuss planning and strategy on the first two Saturdays this semester using four organizational cases. You will be assigned to teams to then write up a two part summary of class group work on Strategy & Planning. These papers are due on Oct. 16.   

Management fads and innovation paper (20% of grade). On Sept. 12 you will choose one of specified topics, conduct research on the topic and write a 3 page paper.  The paper is due Oct. 22.

Book review (20% of grade). You will choose one book from a list of xx and then write an assessment of it. This paper is due Nov 20, where each student will expected to summarize his or her assessment for the rest of the class. The paper is due Nov. 21.

"Business case" paper (40% of grade) .  You will choose a public or nonprofit organization for which you will write an analysis as to whether there is a compelling case for change in their organization and, if so, what.  A prospectus for the paper is due Oct. 30. The 5 page paper is due on Dec. 12.
