Research Interests
My background is in the cultural and intellectual history of the Renaissance and Reformation, especially in Central Europe, but my research and new teaching have led me to widen my focus to look at gender and sexuality and at Europe’s relationship to the wider world. My current work focuses on religious change, cultural contact, and identity formation in the early modern era.

Current Project
I am currently revising my book manuscript, Between the Eagle and the Crescent: Czechs between Christianity and Islam, 1450 - 1650. The book analyzes texts about the Turk or about Islam that were produced in the Czech lands in the early modern period to look at how this discourse was used as a site for Czech identity formation.
I am no longer the Cluster Coordinator for the Study Abroad Segment III. If you are a student who is looking for information about Segment III, please click here for information about the Study Abroad Segment III or contact Prof. Trevor Getz.
