FAQ'S

Q:  Will the exam material be based on the lecture or the text?

A:  The exam will be directly taken from the lecture notes on the website and the chapters assigned from the book.

Q:  How much is the workbook worth if completed?

A:  Each chapter of the workbook completed is worth two points of extra credit.  Chapters one through seven must be completed by the mid-term and chapters eight through fourteen are only accepted after the midterm.

Q:  Can we turn in the study guide chapters photocopied?

A:  Yes.  Make sure to write down the chapters you have completed and your SS# on the front page.

Q:  How are the exams structured?

A:  Both exams primarily consist of multiple choice question with some True/False questions as well.

Q:  What are the procedures for exam day?

A:  When you arrive at class, grab a board which will be located in front of the classroom in the lobby.  YOU MUST USE A BOARD TO WRITE ON DURING THE EXAM, NO BOOKS OR NOTEBOOKS PLEASE.  A TA will direct you down the front rows, where you will be given a test and seated in every other seat.

Q: What are the TA's office hours?

Q:  How important is attendance in this class?

A:  Regular attendance is crucial to getting the most out of this class.  The students who do best are those who attend and participate actively.  To encourage attendance, roll is taken randomly throughout the semester.  You will be given three points easy extra credit for being in class on those days.

Q:  What is the psychological perspective of the course?

A:  The course looks at the subject of human sexuality and relationships from a variety of perspectives, both theoretical and non theoretical.  Perspectives from Psychoanalytic to Buddhist are considered, with ample real-life examples and diverse personalities included.  Dr. Leroux brings experience from his own clinical practice as well as extensive Buddhist study to the course.

Q:  How much depth should my papers have in order to earn a good grade?

A:  To earn a passing grade one must meet the minimum requirements asked of you, but the best papers are those that relate an interesting experience from the writers own life and show a degree of depth for the topic.  We want you to think about how the ideas from class fit with or do not fit with your life.

Q:  Will there be study groups held before an exam?

A:  There will be study groups scheduled around the exam dates.  They will be announced in class.  For help with your papers, attend the office hours.  Any T.A. should be able to answer your questions. 

Q:  How quickly will grades be posted on the web?

A:  A.S.A.P.  Grades will be posted immediately after all papers/exams are turned in and graded.
