Purpose of Fund
The Purpose of the Herodotus Fund for Graduate Travel in History is to assist promising graduate students majoring in History at San Francisco State University to travel both domestically and internationally for presenting papers and doing research.
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 3.25 GPA required.
- Students must be enrolled in at least 3 units.
- Students must be graduate students majoring in history.

- Invitation (or acceptance) of a conference paper must be included with the acceptance of a summary of the paper, a budget, and a faculty recommendation.
- OR
- A Research Trip (submissions would include a research proposal and a research abstract; budget; and a faculty recommendation)
- OR
- Travel for other scholarly purposes at the discretion of the History Department Chair

Award Application
- Scholarship application must be submitted to the History Department.
- The determination of the award is to be made by The Herodotus Fund for Graduate Travel in History committee, consisting of the Graduate Committee and the History Department Chair.
- Winning entrants can be US Citizens, permanent residents or international students.
- The intent of the award is for annual distribution provided there are eligible applicants with qualified projects.
- $1,500 per student maximum will be awarded.
- Students must submit copy of his or her transcript.
Post Award Criteria
A thank you note will be written to donor along with a brief report of conference attended or research undertaken. The note will be given to the Department Chair of Project Investigator.
