The GATL staff are here
to assist students using the teaching lab with resource, data, and
technical questions. GATL staff (in conjunction with IGISc activities)
offer GIS, remote sensing, and hardware support to students taking
courses in the GATL. Please be advised that GATL staff are in place
to answer questions about GIS/Remote Sensing and hardware issues in
the lab. If you need training, you should consider signing up for
an academic course, consult with your instructor/teaching assistant,
or attend technology trainings provided by the SFSU Department
of Information Technology. |

Barry Nickel manages the
SFSU GIS research program (Institute for Geographic Information
Science), coordinates the SFSU Certificate Program in
GIS, and supports GIS curriculum development activities.
His research interests are primarily concerned with the
spatial and foraging ecology of large vertebrates in relation
to the surrounding environment, in particular reference
to marine mammals. His research agenda highlights the
assessment of scale-dependency in animal movement and
reaction to prey/habitat structure through the development
of spatially explicit models. His fieldwork integrates
behavioral data from telemetry technologies with GIS/remote
sensing for habitat modeling. |
