About Environmental Studies

  • The program offers training leading to a B.A. or B.S. in Environmental Studies.
  • Environmental Studies is a field that crosses the boundaries of traditional disciplines, challenging faculty and students to look at the relationship between humans and their environment from a variety of perspectives.
  • The Environmental Studies Program at SFSU draws upon the strengths of our campus community and our connections to the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Our students have the opportunity to integrate coursework in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, as well as business and ethnic studies.
  • Our faculty are drawn from disciplines including geography, environmental chemistry, geosciences, conservation biology, urban studies, broadcast and communication, business, and more. They are teaching and actively researching issues of local and international importance.
  • The program attracts students from a wide range of academic interests and cultural backgrounds, and produces high quality undergraduates ready for careers in many environmental fields.
