Campaign 2000 -- Candidates and Electoral Chances
This exercise asks you to research and analyze certain predictive indicators for
helping determine electoral outcomes in the 2000 presidential election.. The areas you
will research include:
- Demographics
- Voter Registration and Turnout
- Candidate Information
- News Coverage
- Polling Data
Following Professor Tabb's instructions, you should choose a candidate to focus on. Go
to that race and utilize the links to gather the needed information. Each link should add
to your understanding of the candidate and his/her chances and allow you to make
assumptions and predictions about the electoral outcomes of the upcoming primaries
In order to fully utilize the links listed below, you should sign up for free access to

- Go to http://cloakroom.com and click on the
Hotline button at the top of the page under "Direct Links".
- You will be prompted to enter your user name and password. Multiple users at the same
location can access the site simultaneously.
- Use the user name and password that Prof. Tabb passed out in class.
- Once having logged into Cloakroom, access http://www.cloakroom.com/members/campaign/2000/whitehouse/
which is sampled below. Use this and whatever other information you find relevant.

- You are required to present a PowerPoint demonstration of your findings in
class on Nov. 15. Each demonstration should be about 10 minutes.
