DIRECTIONS FOR RETRIEVING ARTICLES FROM J-STOR

1. Enter the J-Stor web site: http://www.jstor.org/

2. Click on Enter J-Stor.

3. Click on Browse the Journals (the first time you enter you should also read the Terms and Conditions for use)

4. Scroll down to the list of journals under the heading Political Science

5. Click on the Journal of your choice.

6. Click on the link for the set of volumes that contains the article you want.

7. Click on the link for the specific issue you want. A table of contents for the issue will appear.

8. Click on the link for the article you want.

10. At this point, you can read on screen (a pain) or you can print.

11. To print, click on Print.

12. Two printing options will appear. Go down to the second, adobe acrobat print. You have a choice of high quality print or economy. Click on the one you want. A box will appear telling you to click the OK button, so do that. The article then loads into a separate window and adobe acrobat also opens. Sometimes this takes a few minutes so it may seem like nothing is happening. Depending on the machine you are using, the article will pop up in a window, or you may have to bring up this window yourself - it will appear in the bar at the bottom of your screen, along with the other windows that are open.

13. When the article appears, send it to the printer.

NOTE: All SFSU students are authorized to use J-Stor. This should work from any computer on campus as well as from home via the Library. You must have adobe acrobat reader on your machine for the print function to work. All the machines in the PSIRUS Lab and the College lab in HSS 380 are so equipped.
