H.H. Richardson, series 2:
Trinity Church, Boston

The success of Richardson's Brattle Square Church led to a commission to design a larger and more costly church nearby, Trinity Episcopal Church.   Trinity Church was commissioned in 1872 and completed in 1877.  The major features of the present front, notably the two side towers and the entry porch, were designed by Richardson later and constructed in the1890s, after his death.  The success of this project moved Richardson to the forefront of American architects.   Click on any photograph to enlarge it.
