H.H. Richardson, series 1:
Brattle Square Church, Boston
Richardson received the commission to design a new building for the Brattle Square Congregational Church of Boston in 1870. In his design, for the first time, he drew inspiration from the Romanesque style with which his designs became synonymous throughout the remainder of his career. The building is now used by the First Baptist Church. Click on any picture to enlarge it.
