NPS Internship Description & Location:
The Tennessee Valley has a thriving native plant nursery that grows plants for restoration projects throughout the Marin Headlands.  This area is an important part of the Marin Headlands.

Intern Responsibilities/Duties
1. Tennessee Valley Native Plant Nursery : This internship aims to introduce the intern to several aspects of managing a community-based native plant nursery, with a specific focus on seed collection, mapping, storage, and record keeping. Interns will work closely with park staff and other nursery volunteers, especially with the manager of the Tennessee Valley Native Plant Nursery to learn about all aspects of collecting, mapping and storing native seed for habitat restoration in a National Park..

Intern Skills/Qualities
· Student must be dependable, on time, responsible, fulfill hours commitment.
· A self-starter, independent, organized and motivated
· Detail-oriented – this position requires attention to detail, whether it’s collecting seed from a specific species or being consistent in filling out the collection record
· Someone who enjoys working independently and with volunteers



Intern Transportation
Must be able to get to nursery on your own. There is no direct bus service to the nursery. Golden Gate Transit buses go down Hwy 1 and you can walk or ride a bike from Hwy 1 down Tennessee Valley road, about 2.5 miles.
