NPS Internship Description & Location:
The Marin Headlands are part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This are covers various types of histories, from the Coast Miwok Indians to the Military establishments of the seacoast fortifications on the west coast and much more. This area is especially significant due to its relation with the San Andreas Fault, making it a fascinating geological site.

Intern Responsibilities/Duties
1. Education in Geology, Marin Headlands - Point Bonita : The intern will be involved in the geology education program. The Golden Gate National Recreation Area offers nationally recognized K-12 inquiry-based education programs for Bay Area students to help them achieve academically and to inspire in them a sense of stewardship in national parks and their home communities. Education interns work closely with National Park rangers to design, deliver and evaluate programs in the park and in the classroom. “Rocks on the Move” is a popular curriculum based education program that helps students in grades 6-8 better understand the geology of the park.

Intern Skills/Qualities
· Student must be dependable, on time, responsible, fulfill hours commitment
· A self-starter, independent, organized and motivated
· Enthusiastic about working with students in grades 6-8
· Bilingual and bicultural skills are desirable
· Interested in education, and natural and cultural history


Intern Transportation
Students must have their own transportation to the Presidio. Transportation to the Marin Headlands will be provided by the park.
