CalStudies : NPS Internships : Fort Funston
NPS Internship Description & Location:
Fort Funston, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This area covers various types of histories, from the Adopt-A-Beach programs to the Military establishments of the seacoast fortifications on the west coast and much more.
The Division of Natural Resources Management and Research works at Fort Funston and is comprised of various groups which includes the Presidio Park Stewards, Habitat Restoration Team (Marin), the Site Stewardship Program and the Green Team (Ft. Funston) as well as the Native Plant Nurseries.

Intern Responsibilities/Duties
· Details on internships at this site to be announced soon. The Previous internship worked with the Green Team to map plant species in the park.


Intern Skills/Qualities
· Intern must be dependable, on time, responsible, fulfill hours commitment.
· A self-starter, organized and motivated. Comfortable doing fieldwork independently
· Detail-oriented – requires attention to detail, identifying a specific plant or drawing a map
· Enjoys working outdoors on and off trail in steep terrain, in all types of costal weather
· Desire to learn GPS and produce maps
· Excited about plants (not necessarily experienced), the natural world, habitat restoration.

Intern Transportation
Intern must get to the Crissy Field center, 603 Mason at Halleck, Presidio.
