- The California Institute for Rural
Studies CIRS is a private non-profit research organization located in Davis,
California. Incorporated in 1977, we are currently celebrating our 20th year of research
and outreach aimed at improving lives, conditions and economies of rural areas.
- Fort Ross Global Village
This project brings schoolchildren from California, Russia, and Alaska together on the
Internet to study archaeology and history at Fort Ross. Good site for historical overview
of Fort Ross Area of Northern California.
- H-CALIFORNIA List Server
H-California exists so that people involved in California Studies can communicate with
each other more easily. We hope to sponsor reviews of new books dealing with California
topics, develop an exchange of course syllabi dealing with California subjects, announce
matters of interest for those interested in California studies, develop a web site for
California studies, and serve as a channel of communication for the California Studies
Association.

- The Center For California Studies,
California State University, Sacramento is a public service, educational support, and
applied research institute of California State University, Sacramento. It is dedicated to
promoting a better understanding of California's government, politics, peoples, cultures
and history.
- The Center for Southern California
Studies, CSU, Northridge (CSCS) was established in the Fall of 1996 to
coordinate and promote faculty research, applied research and professional services, and
California Studies in campus curriculum.

University - California Cultural Studies A special major in Interdisciplinary Studies
in California Cultural Studies. California Cultural Studies (CCS) has been established in
order to bring together writers, scholars, artists, and students from various fields,
organizations, and disciplines whose interests are in the study of California. CCS aims to
attract a diverse group of students, representing a number of different ethnic and
cultural groups as well as regions within California, into a learning community devoted to
the study, preservation, and development of California's cultural life. The program has
been designed so that students, scholars, and artists might work on projects of a common
interest in an intellectually simulating atmosphere.
- University of
Southern California's web site for the Southern California Studies Center is a unique,
campus-wide, interdisciplinary initiative. Its principal goal is to monitor and guide the
transformations in environment, politics, economics, culture and society of Southern
California.

state's official historical society, we hold extensive materials about California's rich
history. Our Web site is still young, but growing and it primarily provides
"content" for researchers.

History Seminar Dinners series, Department of Geography, UC Berkeley The California
History Seminar Dinners series that meets once a month at The Faculty Club on the Berkeley
campus to discuss in topics about the state of California. A guest speaker is featured at
each event, and typically the speaker's presentation is followed by questions, answers,
and discussions relevant to the topic.

- Gay and Lesbian Historical Society of Northern
California. Founded in 1985, the GLHS is a community-based, nonprofit, educational
organization. A full-time, professional archivist works to catalogue and preserve our
collections according to professional archival standards. Much support is done by
