 Advising

Who needs advising?

All anthropology majors are required to see an advisor at least once a semester to ensure all are meeting the requirements in completing the anthropology program.

How do I see an advisor?

Advisors are available during their office hours after the semester has started. Just stop by their office to meet with them; no appointment necessary. Please click on the "Advisors" link at your left for office hours and contact information if you prefer to make an appointment.

How do I pick an advisor?

Usually students will see the advisor from their chosen emphasis, i.e. Cultural or Visual Anthropology. If you haven't decided on a concentration, it can be helpful to see either our undergraduate coordinator, Lucia Volk or graduate coordinator, Mark Griffin. Click on the "Advisors" link for more information.

Which Program do I follow?

Please note that the Anthropology Department is starting a new undergraduate curriculum beginning Fall 2007. Students starting this major or minor beginning Fall 2007 should consult the Program Information handout. Students who have already declared their anthropology major or minor before Fall 2007 should use the Old Program Information handout as a guidance in planning their degree in the Anthropology.

What if I just want general advising?

For General Education advising, please go to the University's Advising Center located in ADM 212 or click on the "GE Advising" link at your left.
