A Report on
ACPS-HKIAPS
Conference at Chinese University of Hong Kong in July 13-14, 2008
We just concluded a successful international conference, "Greater China in an Era of Globalization," hosted and co-organized by HK Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies at Chinese University of Hong Kong and co-sponsored by the Mr. & Mrs. Wong Foundation, Ltd. Hong Kong and the College of BSS at San Francisco State University.
Professor Robert Sutter of the University of Georgetown delivered an excellent keynote address "US-China Relations during the Bush Administration: Evolution, Status, and Outlook." The conference brought together 113 participants from over 50 institutions from the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, China, Taiwan, HK, Macau, Singapore, and elsewhere. This was a great international gathering at which our members and distinguished China scholars came together to exchange their views on the topics related to the broad theme of the conference and other important topics related to China.
For more information about the conference, please click here for the
conference programs.
We are planning to publish three edited books from the high quality conference papers, tentatively titled "Greater China in an Era of Globalization;" "China's Rising and its Role in the World;" and "China's Environmental Crisis and What it Means for the World." Our mission is to promote understanding of Chinese politics, provide leadership, networking, and information to the scholarly community of Chinese political studies, advance excellence in all aspects of Chinese political studies, and promote the intellectual development of this important field. We hope you will continue to be part of our endeavor!
