Missouri
State University (MSU) is a public, comprehensive university
system with a state-wide mission in public affairs. With students
from almost every state in the
US
and over 80 countries, enrollment at MSU is approximately 20,000
students making it the second largest university in the state.
The university boasts more than 700 full-time faculty, more
than 150 undergraduate programs and over 40 graduate program.
MSU
has a strong focus on international affairs.
In fact, it is the only university in the state with a
library designated as a United Nations depository and no other
public university in the state maintains as many linkages with China. In 2006, the
Task Force on Missouri State University Futures identified 11
research emphasis areas to be considered for additional University
support. One of these
is global perspectives (the study of international issues and
trends) with a focus on
Asia
.
The
Missouri State University System supports a number of academic
programs and research partnerships in China. MSU has multiple
agreements with

China. For example, the MSU
Study in China Program gives students the opportunity to study for
a entire year or just a semester at either Liaoning
Normal
University
in
Dalian,
China
or in
Qingdao,
China
at
Qingdao
University. Moreover,
Missouri
State
University
and
Liaoning
Normal
University
operate a branch campus in
Dalian
offering a two-year Associate of Arts in General Studies with an
Emphasis in Business. After students complete the program, they
are eligible to study for a bachelor's degree at the Missouri

Less than a mile from campus, downtown is the scene for live

around town.

Mall is the place for you. It's one of the largest indoor
shopping centers in the state, with more than 190 stores. Around
town, there are nearly 1,500 retail outlets to match your shopping

Outdoor World, one of
Missouri
's largest tourist attractions, is the place to get your gear for
outdoor fun. You can trek next door to the new American
National Fish and Wildlife Museum to explore some of the
native species, as well as a few thousand others.
You
can enjoy cheering on
Springfield
's professional baseball team, the
Springfield
Cardinals. They
offer an opportunity to enjoy quality, professional baseball on a
student's budget. The Cardinals team is the St.
Louis Cardinals AA affiliate and a member of the Texas League
of professional baseball clubs.
