CUSCPS is a newly created research unit based in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSS) at San Francisco State University. The Center seeks to advance knowledge of China and deepen understanding of US-China relations. It promotes research, teaching, training, and outreach on US-China domestic and international policy issues in all areas. It provides policy research, data collection, analysis, and consultation to interested government agencies, non-profit organizations, community groups and businesses. It facilitates academic exchange and serves as a bridge and a base for collaboration between the college and the university and any other institutions or organizations, particularly in China.

College of Behavioral and Social Sciences
SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY
SFSU,
founded in 1899, is part of the largest system of higher education in the
country granting bachelor's and master's degrees, the California State
University (CSU), with 23 campuses throughout the state of
California
.
SFSU has 29,686 students in fall 2003, with 73.7% of undergraduate
students and 26.3% graduate students. Students
in Asian origin constitute 28.5% of the total student body, the second
largest next to the white by ethnicity.
SFSU has
the most M.A. students for a M.A. only institution in the
United States
. The admission number was 7,700 in fall 2003. SFSU has the most
International Students in the CSU and the second most in the
United States
for a MA only institution. Over 100 nations were represented in the
graduating class last Commencement. Over half the students at SFSU were
not born in the
United States
.
The College of Behavioral and Social
Sciences (BSS) is one of the largest colleges on campus, second in
student enrollment, second in degrees awarded, largest in number of
academic programs, largest in number of successful faculty research
awards, and largest in number of successful Presidential Awards to
Probationary Faculty granted to BSS faculty.
The College
of
BSS
promotes
teaching, scholarship, and service that enhance appreciation and
understanding of the behavioral, social, and natural mosaic of life on
earth and promote active engagement in shaping the world. The subject
matter addressed by BSS faculty at its core consists of the patterns,
development, diversity, and changes in human behavior and institutions.
The fundamental approach of the college is that of the liberal arts.
Interdisciplinary, multicultural, and international perspectives are
emphasized in the curricula, as are methodological approaches appropriate
to each discipline.

SING
TAO DAILY

Sing Tao Daily has the largest regional coverage among global Chinese communities (e.g. in North
America) and also has the second largest global coverage in the world, following the
International Hernald Tribune.
The parent company of Sing Tao Daily, Sing Tao Newspaper Group was founded in 1938 and is based in Hong Kong. Sing Tao Daily was first published in the same year. It is now having one of the longest publishing histories among Chinese newspapers in Hong Kong.
After opening its first international office in San Francisco in 1975, Sing Tao set up its International News
Center in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Vancouver,
Calgary, London, and Sydney. In all, the company now has twenty-two offices
globally.
There are over 16 overseas editions of Sing Tao Daily, which are published by 9 overseas bureaus and circulated over 100 cities around the world.
Sing Tao Group established an International News Center in June 2002 to further enhance the efficiency and power of its global network. The major focus is to leverage off the group’s network strength and resources, to provide first hand, extensive news reporting without geographical or time limitations. The set up assures the group’s quality as a content provider servicing global Chinese communities.
