Accommodations and Conference Room


Both lodging and conference room are located in the same building, the Towers Conference Center and Science & Technology Building, formerly known as "the University Guest Center." The check-in desk is located on the southeast side of the building. If you park your car in the Parking Lot 19 and 20, you can walk through the entrance of Towers Conference Center; if it is locked in the summer, you turn left, follow the trail up the hill and walk around the building and enter at the front of Science & Technology Building. For more detailed directions and pictures, click conference lodging location

The Sunset room is the meeting room for the ACPS conference, located at the lowest level of the building. The reception on Friday will be provided at 6:30 in the Sunset Room. This facility has two twin beds per room with a private bath. Daily maid service is not provided unless staying for a week. All rooms have data lines that can access internet sites. The computer lab is located on the lobby floor.

Driving Directions


From San Francisco International Airport:
Take I-280 North, exit at 19th Avenue toward Golden Gate Bridge. Exit at Brotherhood Way immediately after Alemany Blvd. Turn right, pass three street lights, and turn right on Lake Merced Blvd. Pass one street light and one stop sign, and turn right onto State Drive, which leads to you the parking structure Lot 19 and 20 on your left at the end of the street. Parking $5 per day - look for a self-serve vender machine for parking ticket and then place your parking ticket on your dashboard. If you miss the exit Brotherhood Way, keep going and take Junipero Serra Boulevard, turn left on Holloway Avenue. Pass the 19th Avenue and continue on Holloway Ave to Font Blvd. Turn right onto Font Blvd. and continue to all the way to meet Lake Merced Blvd. Turn right onto Lake Merced Blvd. then take an immediate right onto State Drive which is the entrance to the parking structure Lot 19 and 20. BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

BART: Exit the Daly City.  Then, take MUNI or SamTrans from the Daly City BART station to the campus. MUNI's 28 line and SamTrans' 3B line serve the campus 7 days a week. After you arrive at SFSU station, you should walk across the campus, ask for the way to The Towers or look at the SFSU map to locate The Towers and State Drive. You should walk, and a nice walk, passing Quad, Bookstore, Burk Hall, and Student Services - One Stop building, and then make left turn and see the Towers. Walk all the way to the end, look right, and look for the Science & Technology Theme Community (formerly called the University Guess House). The SFSU map should help to guide you to the building if you see nobody but sea gulls.

From Oakland International Airport: Take I-880 North. Then, take I-80 West toward San Francisco across the Bay Bridge to Highway 101 South. Take 101 South to I-280 toward Daly City. Take the San Jose Avenue/Mission St. exit (immediately after the Ocean Avenue exit), bearing right onto Sagamore Street to Brotherhood Way. Stay on Brotherhood Way until you see Lake Merced Blvd, and turn right onto Lake Merced Blvd. Pass one street light and one stop sign, and then turn right onto State Drive which is the street immediately after Font Blvd.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

Airport & Transportation

San Francisco International airport (SFO) is located approximately 17 miles south of San Francisco State University. To make your way to the campus, you can take a taxi, shuttle service, BART or MUNI/Samtrans bus. For additional airport information, please visit www.sfoairport.com.

Oakland Airport (OAK) is located 18 miles east of San Francisco, across the Bay Bridge. For additional information, please visit www.flyoakland.com or call the Oakland Transportation and Parking Information Hotline: 1-888-IFLYOAK

At both airports, taxis depart from the designated taxi zones located outside Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level, all terminals. Taxi rides from SFO to the SFSU campus cost $30-45 and from OAK to the SFSU campus cost $45-5. Parking at the University parking (Lot #19 behind the Towers Conference Center) cost $5 per day.

The BART station at SFO is located on Level 3 of the International Terminal. The station has two entrances, a "walk-in" entrance on Level 3 and another accessible from "AirTrain" the airport's unmanned shuttle train that connects various airport terminals.

An AirBART shuttle to the Oakland Airport leaves the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART station every 10 minutes. The shuttle operates Monday through Saturday 6:00 a.m. to 12:05 a.m., and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 12:05 a.m. Travel time between BART and the Airport is approximately 15 minutes, but can be as much as 30 minutes during peak weekday rush hours. The price per trip is $2.00 for adults and $.50 for children 5 through 12, seniors 65 or over and persons with disabilities.

The cheapest option into San Francisco from SFO is the SamTrans Route 292 which is a local bus that makes many stops in the communities between San Francisco, SFO, and San Mateo. Fare is $1.25 for adults, $0.60 for seniors/disabled, and $0.75 for youth. SamTrans Route 397 operates overnight "owl" service between San Francisco, SFO, and Palo Alto. Fare: $1.25 adult, $0.60 senior/ disabled, $0.75 youth. At the SFO terminals, SamTrans stop at:

Terminal 2: Roadway Center Island, Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level.

Terminal 3: Curb adjacent to Courtyard 4, Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level.

International Terminal: Courtyard "A", Level 1 and Curbside adjacent to Courtyard “G”, Level 1.

Getting Around Town by Public Transportation

San Francisco's principal public transport system is the Municipal Transit Agency (MUNI), which operates nearly 100 bus lines. The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system is a convenient, economical subway system linking San Francisco with the East Bay. Taxis can be difficult to obtain; it may be best to phone in advance, especially during peak hours.

MUNI Bus Service: Muni provides 24-hour service, seven days a week. Fare is $1.00. Transfers are good for 2 hours. Consult the Muni system-wide street and transit map for sale throughout the city or go to www.sfmuni.com for more information.

BART Rapid Transit: Go to www.bart.gov for schedules, routes, and fares.

Restaurants on campus or nearby SFSU campus

On Campus: The Cesar Chavez Student Center offers a wide selection of food services ranging from grilled sandwiches, Mexican food, Italian and Chinese, as well as coffee and breakfast. These food services during the summer are generally open Monday-Friday only between 9am and 3pm. There are also two convenience stores located in the main lobby of the Student Center.

Off Campus: Stonestown Galleria Mall is located one block north of campus on 19th Avenue and houses a food court, Chevy’s Tex-Mex restaurant, Nordstrom café, and The Olive Garden restaurant. There are also a smattering of restaurants and cafes found on Ocean Avenue, between 19th Avenue and Junipero Serra Blvd, just past Stonestown Galleria Mall.

However, most of the best restaurants are located in West Postal, Downtown, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf.

If you’re looking for cheaper accommodations in downtown, you may want to try a youth hostel. Hostelling International Downtown 312 Mason Street between Geary & O’Farrell Streets, one block from Union Square. Provides double and triple rooms. In most cases, two rooms share a bath.
